As announced the first day of the orientation ceremony of newly admitted students into the ND and HND programmes of the Federal Polytechnic Bida was held successfully.
The event which was held at the school's auditorium witnessed an unprecendented amount of new students in attendance as the auditorium was filled to utmost capacity.
Top notch academic heads of the federal polytechnic bida attended the first day of orientation. The School's Rector, Registrar, Dean Students Affairs, Heads of Departments, Lecturers, the school's senate president, SUG President, vice-president and representatives.
Selected speakers at the event admonished the freshers basically on issues that cuts across their successful stay in the Federal polytechnic, How the polytechnic is run, important tips on scaling through the school successfully, Corrections of some errors with jamb portal and many more.
The Dean, Students Affairs spoke about the deliberate action of organizing the orientation for newly admitted students as he shared light on the activities and function of the students affairs division while stating the importance of the division.
He stated that Students Affairs was recognized in 1986 following a white paper presentation by General Abisoye in 1986. This white paper was prompted by the riots among students which claimed the lives of many Nigerian students.
The Dean said various departments such as Guidiance & Counselling, Medical, Security, Accommodation e.t.c are domiciled in the Student Affairs Division.
The SUG president in the usual 'gingering' they go along with expressed his joy as he welcomed the newly admitted students while giving them series of advice.
The SUG president talked about taking studeis seriously, following school rules and regulations and dressing decently. He promised to never stand idle while the right of any student is being jeopardized, bastardized or aberated.
The Chief Libarian of the school presented a paper on 'Maximizing the use of Library'. In his presentation he taught students the use of Library and gave them viatal informations on making use of the library to foster a successful stay in the polytechnic.
'The role of female students in Science and Technology' was the topic of the presentation by the HOD of Nutrition and Dietitics department of the school.
She duly advocated the role women had to play in the advancement of science and technology. She noted that the population of ladies in polytechnics was greatly increasing as against their population in previous years.
Also, the HOD Nutrition and Dietitics praised the school's management for the increase in the amount of ladies who were Heads of Departments.
Comedy was at it's peak with Mc Shawarma and Mc Smiles. The duo thrilled the students with rib-cracking comedy.
Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and answers were provided to them.
